I remember reading that 1972’s Hurricane Agnes had such high flood levels that the smallmouth population was set-back for from 4-6 years. Frequently waded just below the pipelines & always caught 10-15 a day (1964-1971).
Smallies are far more resilient than I believe we have given them credit for. They face more challenges from us than the natural order of things in my opinion. We now have seen tagged smallies travel over 25 miles from catch to catch. Something most would have gaufed at just twenty years ago.
