Hobie B.O.S. -Harris Chain of Lakes- Stop #1 2023
The Hobie Bass Open Series (BOS) is in Lake County, Florida this weekend for the kickoff of the the Hobie kayak bass fishing series sponsored by Power-Pole and anglers will be chasing the Florida strain bass all over the Lake and Orange Counties and if last months KBF-Kayak Bass Fishing event featuring the Kissimmee lakes is any indication than the largemouth will have moved out of pre spawn patterns and into spawning areas for this event.
The event will permit anglers to fish with a varied of options just like the KBF event last month in Florida that will highlight the Harris Chain of Lakes featuring Apopka, Harris, Griffin, Eustis, Dora, Beauclair, Carlton and Yale fisheries totaling over 75,0000 acres of fishable water for the 155 competing anglers.
Hobie upped its max capacity per event this season to 225 from 200 as well as increasing the entry fees for the two day event to $295 from $265.
Based on some of the preliminary pre-fishing reports and barring any weather developments that may transpire the Hobie Harris Chain event is poised to show out——and give anglers an early tan potentially to start the season!!
Some may ask why I am covering the Hobie event because obviously largemouth are the featured specie but in large part it has to do with supporting those anglers within our region that also fish for Smallies but are taking the next step and fishing major competitions like Hobie and KBF.
Competitive tournaments are not for everyone. It takes a special kind of commitment to fish these events especially based on the level of competition one faces.
Our region is being represented by some quality anglers making the long drive to Florida to show case their talents against some of the best kayak anglers in the country:
