We love custom designers and producers of quality tackle. The crankbait is a must have for any Smallie Chaser and we have found the Lake’s Edge Lures cranks to be absolute Smallie catchers!!
I had all but given up on the Whopper Plopper until I began throwing the variation produced by Lake’s Edge. I witnessed the bites drop tremendously over the years as Smallmouth began to be conditioned to the size and sound of the traditional plopper.
Enter the flat side plopper for the win. Just enough of a deviation in sound to entice the Smallies once again and its action is a bit more subtle than the others. I pair the plopper with P-Line Topwater line because of its bouyancy when I really want to increase castability and distance.

The crankbaits deliver everything you want in a crankbait for Smallmouth. I prefer to go with the smaller cranks because they mirror the typical size of the forage specie we commonly see in most regional river systems. Crayfish and natural shad patterns are the dominant classes.
Some of my fav Lake’s Edge patterns:
The swimbaits are a fairly new development but look for the Tennessee Shad patterns at the upcoming shows during EXPO season. These patterns in the cranks and swimbaits are Smallie catchers! Lake’s Edge has some awesome jerkbait patterns as well and their Jr. size jerks drive Smallies crazy.
The beauty with custom producers is you can have very specific patterns produced no matter what river systems you may be fishing in throughout the year.
